CAROL ANN DI MAURO - Teachers, students and staff members at George Washington Campus, Wadleigh Secondary School, Franklin K. Lane High School, the New York City Math Project and the Institute for Literacy Studies at Lehman College mourn the untimely passing of their beloved colleague, trusted friend, and dedicated teacher Carol DiMauro on December 21, 2002. Carol, most recently a teacher consultant at the New York City Mathematics Project, brought her passion for mathematics and innovative methods to the students and teachers at these and other New York City schools. Her 35-year career in teaching took many paths. She began teaching at Brandeis HS; followed by work as a teacher trainer for the NYCBOE Office of Funded Programs and then returned to classroom teaching at Beach Channel HS. Eventually, she was chosen as one of the original NYCBOE teacher consultants for the New York City Mathematics Project. Her NYCMP responsibilities brought her to schools in all five NYC boroughs. Carol developed a reputation for her love of mathematics and designing activities that made mathematics alive, meaningful and fun. She saw mathematics everywhere and freely shared her vision with all who met her. Carol will be deeply missed and grieved. Deepest condolences are extended to her parents and sister on their tragic loss.
