Grades K-2
The New York City Mathematics Project is offering a one day workshop, Models for Conceptual Understanding for K-2 educators to support the implementation of the NYS Common Core Learning Standards and deepen the content knowledge of our students.  This is supported through the use of mathematical models within and across levels of curriculum. We will explore instructional strategies for using these models in order of the natural progression of concepts.
High School Geometry
The New York City Mathematics Project is offering a one day workshop for educators in the implementation of NYS Common Core High School Geometry course.   We will explore Geometry activities that highlight the changes in curriculum in the NYS Common Core Standards. The focus will be on congruence, similarity and transformations.
Middle School
The New York City Mathematics Project is offering a one day workshop for educators
to support the implementation of the NYS Common Core Standards in the Middle Grades.
Participants will engage in active learning about the CCSS middle grades math content and mathematical practices, with a focus on an across-the-grades look during a hands-on session. Links among Instructional Strategies, Grade Level Curriculum Expectations and Assessment will be addressed using investigations, performance tasks, and real world applications.

Spring 2014

The New York City Mathematics Project is offering professional development workshops for the implementation of the Connected Mathematics Program 3 (CMP3).  The workshops will focus on the alignment of the NYS Common Core Learning Standards to CMP3, Mathematics Content and the Standards for Mathematical Practices, and will examine ways in which students should engage with mathematics as they are learning mathematics content. Participants will explore performance tasks that promote student learning. Educators will return to their schools with strategies to design coherent instruction, effectively use questioning and discussion techniques, and use assessment in instruction to assist them to effectively implement CMP3 and the CCLS.

The workshops will focus on the following units:

March 29th - Grade 6   Variables and Patterns

March 29th -  Grade 7    Moving Straight Ahead

March 29th - Grade 8    It’s In The System
